5/15: of long nights, private events and projects galore..

"al-most..the.. weeek..end"

One more day, thats all I need to stay afloat before the weekend. Sure has been a busy week at work as well as socially.

Work sure has been crazy especially today, I was in front of the computer from the moment I got to work till I went to lunch. Not good, especially for my eyes. I could surely feel it cursing me for sitting in front of the computer the whole time. I can't help it though coz it seems like there was a project everytime Im about to finish one. And most of them are last minute or priority projects that was needed by certain times. Never was I was so happy to see the clock striking for lunch hour.

So I have been out to events the past two nights. I was at GQ event on tuesday night while I was in a Wired Mag/Charity Water/Cut&Paste event last night. Both events where held in Stoli Hotel, a sorta roving club sponsored by Stolichnaya, a russian vodka. And what a way to end the tour by hosting events at NYC. The city that never sleeps. I got an invite for the opening night but had to skipped it due to previous obligations. Anyway, the GQ event was nice, music was superb (Misshapes) and the crowd was mostly dressed up in suits and dresses. I was kinda planning to skip the event but decided to just go ahead and sure made a good decision about it. The drinks were great, not too light but not too strong. The wired event has a rather more mixed crowd of hipsters and artist in their early twenties and the music was rocking. Anyway, those sure were great events .

The only problem with going out and not coming home till the wee hours of the morning is that I get sleep deprived . Surprinsingly, I was wide awake with all the work I had to do today. Hmm, I guess its not as bad as some thought it would be.  I even played ball tonight eventhough I feel like I should just retire from the sports. Hey, gotta quit while you are still at the prime..hehe.

Alrighty, time to rest up.. one more day and its the weekend!!

5/12: of mothers day, the weekend, and event-filled week

Its mawday again.. back to work...

Work was good, meetings took most of my time away from my desk. Did some projects.. yada yada yada...

so it was mother's day yesterday. Hope you all enjoyed the day with your mom or if you are a mom, you had a good day. I send my mom an e-card the day before since she lives far away and the time change can be confusing sometimes. Im sure my siblings and my dad made her a nice mother's day day. Sure its tough to be far away from your family, let along your loved ones especially during celebrations like birthdays and anniversaries. Oh well, I guess thats part of growing up and pursuing your dreams. Its tough on my part but Im sure its tougher for my mom since we havent seen each other for 2 years (and before that, 3 years). And its tough to even communicate with them online since the time varies extremely from here to where they live. Oh well, I did some good things though, I send out e-cards to my aunt in here, email and text messages to all my friends to greet their moms, and phone calls to some mothers that I know of especially those who treat me as their son. Ahh.. living life alone sure can be lonely sometimes. nnaahh.. dont listen to me.. im being nostalgic again.

Anyway, weekend was pretty good, I helped out during a baseball tournament. It sure is fun doing it except for the cold freezing temperature that was pounding the place. Its amazing how some people will come to the games wrapped up in their blankets to watch some baseball games. I guess I would be more crazier since I was wearing shorts.. haha

My gym is undergoing renovations. It was supposed to start this weekend but they decided to do it a week early. Geez, with Zumba ending. My only resource would be basketball. I guess I could start running again. I did swim this weekend. I have to start playing tennis again, just need to find someone to play with. Then after this weekend, I would start hiking again. I have a couple of places around here to hike up and I can't wait.

I will be in the city again tomorrow and the following night. Tomorrow for a GQ Event and then wednesday would be for a Wired Event. Both events should be fun and worthwhile. Of course, that means I will be coming to work a bit tired but Im used to it so I dont care. I do have to decide what to wear for both events. I might just go casual.

Alrighty, gotta relaz.. goodnight.

5/7: of final days, and weather changes

  • Mood:
  • Music/Movie: watching TV
  • weather: mild
well, I had my final Zumba class for this session this afternoon and I would surely miss this class. Its been fun and worthwhile doing it...

Work was alright today. Most of my colleagues weren't around due to a conference so we were kinda running in a skeletal group. I was a-o-k though as I did most of the projects and even finished some before the deadline. I just had one of those days were I kept on working and working till it was time to go to lunch and then time to go home.

The weather is really going crazy these days... I woke up this morning with drizzles and temperatures hovering around upper 50s then it drastically change to sunny with temp around lower 70s. Grrr.. And this isnt helping the allergies at all. (I think thats what Im experiecing these days. Since I had a flu shot two years ago, I've been having to battle allergies every spring. grrr...

So after Zumba, I went over to the gym and played some basketball. Well, I guess you win some, you lose some. The first few games were terrible. Not making any shots. But the last game was great, I made a couple of shots and the most important shot, a 20 footer to win the game. woot!! woot!!

Anyway, Im tired now so its time for me to head to bed..

Goodnight

5/7: of private viewing and the middle of the week...

"wishing and waiting..."

I headed to the Guggenhiem last night for a private viewing of Cai Guo-Qiang: I Want to believe exhibit. He sure was a pretty interesting artist who uses not only the common art mediums such as ink, paint and paper but also gunpowder and rotting artifacts like an very very old boat. Private viewings are great because you really get to enjoy each and every piece of work that is displayed. You get a chance just to look at the work and read what was going through the artist's mind while he/she was doing the work. Cannot wait for the next private viewing. Of course, having wine is a plus.. .

So its the midweek and I still feel a bit tired. I havent really sleep much since the weekend debacle. Hopefully, I can get more sleep tonight. Just enough to last me the whole week. Im used to not sleeping a lot but there are just times when your body tells you that you need to slow down and sleep. Of course, a vacation is in need. Maybe something that is relaxing and fun.

Work was good, was busy the last two days but a bit slow today. We had a going away party for one of our colleagues who is moving on after 9 1/2 years of service to the company. It was a good bittersweet party which was well attended by not only the people in my department but by the company. Food was splendid with eggplant rollitini, baked ziti, salad and wraps with cake, fruits and ice cream for dessert. The speeches were good and humorous which is always a plus in this kind of parties.

Anyway, I headed to the gym for the first time since friday and got a decent workout.  I sure needed one as I feel like bloated with all the eating I have been doing since friday. Two nights of Halal food plus a big dinner on Sunday night and then the party this afternoon. tsk tsk tsk

Alrighty, weekend is almost here.. goodnight

5/5: of long weekends, lack of sleep and good health...

  • Mood: [sleepy]

"neeeeedd sleeep"

What a weekend.. it sure felt like it was the longest weekend of my life.. then again, I really didnt sleep that much either. I think I only got about 7 hours of sleep for the weekend. And I still manage to do most of the stuff that was install for my weekend.

But before I indulge everyone on my weekend, let me talk about thursday first. So I went to the doctor on thursday and got a good news back. I didnt have to do any of the other test that was recommended after my bloodwork. Doctor said the result is perfectly normal especially for someone who is physically active as I do. It sure was a great relief and a big burden lifter away from my mind. I felt like an heavy weight was removed when I got out of the doctor's office that I headed straight to work and work my ass off. After work, I headed to the gym for a light workout before going to my zumba class. Then headed to Chili's with my friend for some nightcap of fajita trio.

Friday was the usual, did some projects at work and then headed to the field for a baseball tournament before heading home, relaxing and got ready for a party that night. I took the bus to the city and headed to Retreat Lounge where the party is being held. The lounge was pretty nice, music was so-so at the beginning but did picked up later in the night. We left around 3:30 and didnt go straight home but instead headed to 53rd and 6th for some chicken rice. Great food!! It sure was fun night that I didnt get home till 7AM.

So without any sleep, I headed to the bakery to get some buns before heading to the baseball tournament around 8:30 AM. It was a washout that day so I didnt mind relaxing eventhough I didnt really catch a wink during the time we were waiting to see if there will be a game or not. Anyway, i just relaxed, did some work and hang out with my friend who brought her 2 yr old son to work and we just played baseball and basketball. Her son is cute and amazingly smart. Anyway, they left and I continued on with some more work before doing some laps. Afterwhich, I headed home and relaxed for a bit before picking up my friends before going to the city again for another party.

This time, the party was held at The Park. Nice place but you have to dress up and you have to make sure you had some ladies with you. So we had to wait for the right opportune moment and got in with some ladies who were there for a bachelorette party. Anyway, the place got really crowded that you can barely move around. We left a little later than what I desired and we decided to go back for some chicken and rice on 53rd st. The line was longer than the other night but it was all good. It surely satisfied my hunger before driving everyone home. I got home around 6 AM and went to bed before waking up around noontime and headed to work.

Sunday was pretty good, did what I had to do before heading to my friends house for dinner. Then we watch a movie called Devil Gets Its Due starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei and Ethan Hawke. Very interesting movie I might say. Its a robbery gone really bad. I would say that if you like drama and a bit dark movie, then you should rent this movie. After the movie, I headed back home and didnt get to bed till midnight.

Funny thing is that I dont really feel too tired today. I did a couple of projects and didnt feel sleepy at all. Geez, I guess Im just used to not sleeping that much. Come to think of it, I talked to someone like 2 months ago the whole night for 2 days and didnt really get any sleep and I was fine. Hmm,guess I also possess an ability of not needing too much sleep.

Afterwork, I relaxed for a bit before heading to my second to the last Zumba class. This session will end on thursday and would surely miss it until fall. I might try to look for another place where they will offer Zumba during summer.

Alrighty, let me try to get some sleep.. haha

Goodnight
