12/27: day that shook the world

I thought it was going to be an ordinary day...

I woke up and turned the TV on as usual to get a glimpse of the morning news as well as the weather.  I did my morning ritual and the usual news was on TV . I was about to turn the TV off when I they had a breaking news about a bombing in Pakistan. I didn't think of it as anything out of an extraordinary so I turned the TV off and headed to work .

So I got to work and the place was almost pack . There was a track and field meet at the rock and luckily I found a parking spot on where I usually park my civic. The day was the usual for this week, did some work then had breakfast with the big boys . During this time, one of my colleagues broke the news that Bhutto was assasinated in Pakistan . Woah! that sure took me by surprise because I remember that she escaped an assasination attempt on her life after her she came back from her self-exile.

So I headed back to my office and check on the news and surely enough it was true. According to news report, she was killed when she stood out of the sunroof of her vehicle to wave at her supporters when a gunmen open fire and then blew himself up killing and injuring more people. She was rushed to the hospital where she had surgery as doctors tried to save her life but to no avail. She was struck with two bullets, one through the back of her neck damaging her spinal cord while the other came in from her shoulder and struck her lungs. This event sent shockwaves through Pakistan as supporters marched through the streets in protest and unrest and would surely rattle the country that was suppose to have an election on Jan 8.

So afterwork, I just headed to the gym and did my usual workout. I was mulling whether to head to the palisades to catch a movie but then I just decided to head home and relax for the night. And hey, I get a chance to watch Ice Age again
