Im still feeling the effects of the long week I had
. I woke up when my alarm went off but decided to lay back down on my bed for 5 minutes. Well, the five minutes became 45 minutes and the next thing I know, I was rushing to get myself ready. (Good thing I don't need a long time getting ready) I went straight to the bathroom, got dressed and packed my lunch and headed out to my car in like 10 minutes. The one thing I notice though is everytime Im in a hurry, there will be something in the road that slows me down - a slow car, traffic lights that turn red when I got to the line, a payloader - always something. Why can't that happen when Im in a hurry?
Anyway, so why am I feeling tired today. Basically I had long days everyday last week except for Wednesday. I was awake everyday by 6 and dont get home till at least 10 at night. Friday was even hard since I had to work till 9:30pm then drove to Guggenheim for a Members Preview of the Third Mind, which made me proud since Im Asian and the exhibit was about how American Artists got their inspirations from the Asian culture (more on it later). I left the museum about Midnight and drove to Lower East Side for a friends launching party at Rewind. Instead of taking FDR to make the trip shorter, I had to take 1st Ave from 92nd st down to almost 30 st before cutting to FDR due to an accident. So it took me almost an hour just to get to Lower East side. I stayed till about 3:30 AM then did a crosstown so I could take West Side Highway. It wasnt bad except for one spot near 120st where there was another accident. Sheesh, I didnt get home till 5 in the morning. Got an hour of sleep before heading out again for a soccer tournament which was until 8pm. I was tired by mid-morning and exhausted by mid-afternoon that I started having a headache. I got back home, took a shower and just headed to bed.
Then I had a meeting Sunday morning, before heading to work then off to a friends house for Superbowl which I didnt get home till 11:30pm. Long week huh?
So back to Guggenheim. The exhibit is entitled The Third Mind: American Artist Contemplate Asia, 1860 - 1989. Its basically an exhibition of American Artist using Asian art and literature into their own masterpieces. There was Georgia O Keefe getting inspired after making a trip to Asia; John La Farge and the influence of Japanese art on his creations. And William S Burroughs drawing inspirations from Asia for his manuscripts composed of random text and images. There was even some Yoko Ono's poetry displayed. You will surely enjoy this exhibit and be proud of it if you are Asian.
So back to today, work was the usual. Then headed to the gym to burn more calories especially after that Superbowl feast I had - btw, congrats to the Steelers and the city of Pittsburgh for being crowned Superbowl champions- then went to Zumba class after which I had to stay during a soccer tournament and basically just got home. Oh, and its started snowing already..
Use to be, I hated snow because that means I would be missing work but you know what, I wont mind not going to work once in awhile
Alrighty, I had another long day and it will be a tough commute tomorrow since it will be snowing past midnight but wont be that much. Oh well, gotta try to get up earlier to clean my car up.
