Happy chinese New Year to all especially to those who are celebrating the new year. Its the Year of the OX!
According to my Chinese Horoscope, I wont be having a good year this year (yikes!). I have to be careful with regards to Health, Work and Relationship but my finances will be great (one thing good is better than none!). So everyone who saw me had to do a double take since they didnt recognize me with my new hairdo. And sure enough, I have become an instant celebrity at my organization. But Im pretty sure it will decipate by next week. I got a lot of praises ("ooh, you look good" "oh, you look handsome" "I like it" "You look cute") for my new do. And of course, everyone's question was "why?" The answer I gave to most is that it was time for a cut since it was long enough. I even joke around with some saying that "It was time for a change" like the slogan of the new president. hehe. But on the serious note though, it was indeed time. I grew my hair out of respect to the passing away of both my grandma in a year span and told myself that I will do a good deed. When I heard about locks of love, I decided to grow my hair and eventually donate it to them so someone who needs it. Now, with my new do, I fell lighter (my hair was really thick) and colder (brrrrr...). I guess its time to remember to always bring the scarf out. Another question by most was whether I will grow my hair out again. Hmm.. I havent really decided whether I will do it again or not. I think it will depend on how fast my hair grows in a month. If it grows the way it did, then I might go for it the 2nd time around. Time will only tell.
So last friday, I went to watch the Chinese New Year Splendour show. And all I could say is ... WOW!! It sure was a spectacular show with all the acrobating moves and classical Chinese dance. Even the host and the hostess were great, translating in both Chinese and English, making sure everyone will truly understand and enjoy their experience. We had good seats as well so I had a clear view of the stage but the lady sitting beside me was annoying. Her blue tooth headset kept on blinking. Cmon, didnt she realize it especially when I kept on giving her hints. Some people are just rude and think they can just do anything they want (calm down...). Anyway, I especially like the act when they had the drums out. I cannot wait for next year since they will have new acts.
Saturday went to the Auto show to check out some 2009 models. One of the cars on display was the Kia Soul. Its not out here yet (they are saying either Spring or Summer) but sure looks like a nice car. It sorta like Honda Element but a lot smaller. Some of the notables were 2009 Honda S2000, the new Maza RX-8, the Nissan GT-R, the BMW M5, Saturn Sky, the Ford Flex, Mercedes Benx SLK 300, the soup up Benz AMG 6.3, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid and the VW GTO. Which one would be my next car??
Sunday was the Knickerbocker Ice Festival which celebrates New York's 400th year. I brave the chilly weather to check out the ice scuplture which were pretty spectacular especially the replica of the Half Moon vessel. I guess the weather help a lot to make sure the scupltures don't melt. They also had some of the old photos encased in ice boxes which were pretty neat. Luckily, they had warming stations everywhere or else, I would have been really frozen up.
Today is Chinese New Year. So I made some noodles last night and ate them for lunch today. It was sooo good (pat yourself at the back). Of course, its business as usual at work and was a little bit busy today. Afterwork, I headed to the gym and run a couple of laps before i suddenly felt something hurt on my left foot. It still hurts right now and hopefully its nothing. I'll find out tomorrow.
Geez, its 11pm already, got a busy day and week ahead of me so I have to start sleeping more.. haha!!
